Robert Lawson

Robert Lawson is currently Clinical Professor at Southern Methodist University (Dallas), where he holds several teaching positions. He is the "Jerome M. Fullinwider Centennial Chair in Economic Freedom," and the Director of the Bridwell Institute for Economic Freedom.

Prior to this, he was Associate Professor of Finance at Auburn University (Alabama) and Professor of Economics at Capital University (Columbus, OH).

Dr. Lawson is on the Board of Directors of the Mont Pelerin Society, a free-market oriented global organization which aims to exchange ideas about the principles and practices of a few society. It was founded by Professor Friedrich Hayek in 1947. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Association of Private Enterprise Education, and a Senior Fellow at the Fraser Institute.

He has won many awards, most recently the Adam Smith Award from the Association of Private Enterprise Education.

He is the co-author of the annual report Economic Freedom of the World, issued by the Fraser Institute; and also of Socialism Sucks: Two Economists Drink Their Way Through the Unfree World. Dr. Lawson has also published a large number of articles in economic journals, many them dealing with issues of economic freedom and its consequences.
